Prince of Persia Movie Poster Revealed
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Gaming, Movies & TV
This poster makes me even more excited for this movie! Notice the similarities between his outfit here and the one in Warrior Within. Makes me have a little more faith that they aren’t bastardizing this franchise and actually care about making it a good movie. Click the images for a bigger view.

Putting Star Wars into Star Trek [J.J. Abrams]
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Movies & TV

MTV chats with Star Trek director and Star Wars fan J.J. Abrams about taking some elements of Star Wars and putting them into the new movie.
“That was the fun of it,” Abrams explained recently. “[I] was trying to combine both of those elements and make a movie that wasn’t like a Star Wars movie but felt that it had more pace and action than certain Star Trek movies had.”
Perhaps as a result, Captain Kirk is chased down on an ice planet by an enormous creature, Wampa-style. An early scene introduces Uhura at a bar populated by hard-drinking aliens. And in one key scene, the villain proves his ruthlessness by destroying the home planet of a key character.
“In our early conversations, [co-writer] Alex [Kurtzman] kept saying, ‘We have to put a little Star Wars into our Star Trek,’” remembered Roberto Orci, who wrote the film with Kurtzman. “It was our chocolate and our peanut butter, kind of getting into each other.”

Prince of Persia film footage shows up [Gyllenhaal is still dreamy]
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Gaming, Movies & TV
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything about the upcoming Prince of Persia movie adaptation. Lucky for us, Jerry Bruckheimer (the film’s producer) recently decided to show some footage of the film during an interview.
When asked what Jake Gyllenhaal brings to the film, Bruckheimer says, “Well, he’s very handsome.” Let this be a warning to all you out there. Gyllenhaal’s hotness may cause health complications. And that smile… (sigh)
Oh, and as for the movie itself, we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s any good when it hits theaters.

Wolverine movie borrowed lines from Wolverine game [Games as art?]
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Gaming, Movies & TV
Remember when you saw that Wolverine movie, and there was a part where Wolverine was all like “Rawrrgh! I’m going to cut you!” and you thought that dialogue sounded pretty familiar? You may have heard that line in X-Men Origins: Wolverine: The Game. In a recent interview with Yahoo, Aussie hunk Hugh Jackman (who also produced the movie) admitted he “was able to bring some of the lines of dialogue from the game script into the movie.” Shenanigans?
Since the general consensus we’ve heard says the game is better than the flick, I’m going to put this one in the win category since the shameless line thievery probably helped the film. Since when was stealing lines from a game a good idea anyway? I think that argument for games as art is getting a bit more interesting…

Stranglehold Getting Movie Treatment
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Gaming, Movies & TV
Midway’s John Woo-backed shooter Stranglehold may be turned into a movie, according to Hollywood Reporter.
The 2007 video game is a sequel to John Woo’s 1992 Hong Kong action flick, Hard Boiled. The game stars Chow Yun-Fat, who plays inspector Tequila Yuen. The video game was the first project the two had collaborated on since Hard Boiled.
A screenplay for the game-to-movie is being penned by Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio.
What I’m more interested is if Midway is getting any money for this since they developed the game. They sure could use it.
UPDATE: Well boys and girls turns out John Woo isn’t directing this flick after all…so in other words this movie might be shitty.
