Vids #21: Star Wars: The Old Republic Trailer [Best of E3]
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Gaming
The best trailer out of E3 is the Vid for today. It reminds you of how awesome episodes 1-3 could have been. I thought 3 was just as good as the originals, but 1 and 2…not so much. This trailer is just amazing in every way. Nothing I can say will do it justice so check it out. One thing I can say is that bounty hunter is smokin’ hot.

‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ Dev Diary Displays The Force MMO in Action
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Gaming, ZOMG
BioWare discusses the making of the new planet Tython in this developer dispatch video for their PC-exclusive MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. Nestled deep within, however, is another rare look at the game in motion. The Force and MMOs? If anyone can, BioWare can hopefully pull it off.
Details on the Jedi/Sith MMO are still TBA.

Star Wars Old Republic MMO To Be "Microtransaction-Based" [Sounds Good to Me]
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under ZOMG
I am a Star Wars fanatic. So when I heard that they were creating a Star Wars MMORPG based on the Knights of the Old Republic franchise I was super excited before I realized that it meant I would have to pay monthly fees like World of Warcraft. But EA announced today that instead of charging monthly fees, they will be using microtransactions. What this means is that you will most likely have a pay-as-you-go setup (rather than a more traditional microtransaction system where you would pay for this sweet lightsaber upgrade). Though this may seem like a plan that’s out to get the money of the consumers (like Battlefield: Bad Company was), to me is better than the monthly fee since I, like other gamers who haven’t jumped into the MMO world, don’t have enough time to really feel like I’m getting the most out of a monthly-fee-based plan like they do with World of Warcraft.
This could potentially pave the way for more casual gamers to get their fix without having to shelve out $15 a month for subscription fees and instead pay for each chapter to they can progress at their own pace. I have to say, I am in favor of EA’s system. A lot has yet to be revealed at at this point I’ve only been speculating, but John Riccitiello, CEO of EA, said that more on the game’s payment structure will be revealed in February, so I guess we’ll all be staying tuned.
