Adobe engages Apple in passive aggressive warfare with iPhone’s Flash message
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Tech
Pretty much a slap across the face of Apple for being, in Adobe’s eyes, idiots. Adobe’s seemingly tried everything to get Apple to tear down enough development barriers to get Flash ported to the iPhone. So far, nothing’s worked. What’s their next move? Go to the people and spread awareness to get the masses fired up with some propaganda, of course! Visiting Adobe’s Flash download page from an iPhone now shows an awesome message pretty much informing the user that they’re getting short-changed because Apple is being a whiny bitch – in so many words – with the motive of getting someone to cry out “this is ridiculous! I’m writing Apple immediately!” Well played Adobe, well played.

Cool Websites #3: App of the Day
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Cool Websites
The iPhone/iPod touch app store has been cluttered with its ridiculous number of unnecessary apps. Ever find yourself wishing there was an easier way? Allow me to introduce AppoftheDay.com. Each day they present 1 application with a short description. I already found a better RSS reader than the one I was currently using so I would have to say it’s been pretty good thus far (and I have only visited the site for 2 days). Check it out if you ever wonder if there is more than the top 25 when looking for new apps to download.

Flash 10.1: Full Flash for Everyone But iPhone [Yay for Android, Blackberry, Windows, Palm]
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Tech
A ton of good news about Adobe Flash 10.1: Full Flash is coming to Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, WebOS and Windows Mobile. and it’ll be actually GPU accelerated, meaning you can play back YouTube in HD perfectly. But the bad news? The iPhone is missing out on the action. “Still a closed device and not much progress there,” Adobe stated as they detailed that Flash was invading basically every other smartphone. Also, we gotta wait until mid-2010 for the full rollout.
But, betas for Windows Mobile and WebOS are coming this year, with Android and Symbian early next, meaning you can get your mobile Hulu on before then. BlackBerry will be a bit longer, since RIM just joined Adobe’s Open Screen project. Supposedly, Flash won’t run like total garbage on phones, either, like Flash Lite. Fingers crossed, guys!
Flash 10.1 has a few other tricks up its sleeve: full support for multitouch, gestures and accelerometer input—meaning it’d be perfect on the iPhone, if Apple would ever let it through. And just to make clear, Apple is the issue here, not Adobe.
I’m sure Apple won’t sit idly by while this happens so I guess they will stick with their “special lite version made specifically for the iPhone” and see how that pans out.

iPod Touch Camera “Could Happen Without Warning” [Rumor]
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under Tech

According to vague ipodnn sources, Apple’s camera-less iPod touch could have been a last minute decision. They also suggest that Apple is still committed to delivering a camera on the touch “as soon as possible.”
Apparently, this adjustment could come before next year’s hardware refresh—”without warning” as one source put it. The source also claimed that the upgrade would happen only with the 32 and 64GB versions of the touch and would not affect current pricing. Should this information affect your buying decision? No, it’s just a rumor after all. But chances are Apple will end up caving on this sooner or later. Jobs claims that the decision was about keeping costs down, but all of the chatter seems to indicate that having a camera on the touch might be a dealbreaker.
