iPod Touch Second Generation Looks Good

Posted by Mavrik | Filed under ZOMG

The new iPod touch is out and it’s got a new design similar to the iPhone, but thinner. It now includes external volume controls as well, which I have to say was a great move (as a first-gen iPod Touch owner). It also has Nike+ integrated with no transmitter needed (I guess that’s great for you runners out there, but I wouldn’t trust myself running with this thing…too precious). Another new addition is to the software which now has an on-the-fly genius playlist creation (included in the new iPhone 2.1 software release today as well). It also comes with new prices making it that much more appealing:

$229 for the 8GB
$299 for the 16GB
$399 for the 32GB

The Genius playlist is a really great addition. Say you want to listen to more music similar to the one you’re listening to now? No problem, just tap the screen to pull of the controls and hit the atom icon which will aggregate a nice shuffle of music that’s similar. Pretty neat. The feature will also be present in iTunes 8.0 which also was released today.
