Batman: Arkham Asylum
Posted by Mavrik | Filed under ZOMG
Now that EA passed up on a Dark Knight video game (missing out on $100 million), it looks like Eidos Interactive has decided to step up and produce their own Batman video game, tentatively titled Batman: Arkham Asylum. The latest issue of Game Informer revealed that developers Rocksteady Studios’ Batman title focuses on Gotham’s infamous Arkham Asylum, the psychiatric facility for Gotham’s super villains. After a prisoner transfer goes awry, the Joker takes advantage of the situation, forcing Batman to face a coalition of his greatest enemies. The story is being co-written by Batman veteran Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, and Justice League Unlimited). From the way it sounds I don’t think the game will tie into the film’s franchise, which may be a relief seeing as almost all video game adaptations tend to be terrible. Eidos will also be utilizing Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 for the game, which sounds promising. As of now, Eidos has stated that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be released for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 sometime next year. You can check out Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham Asylum website here:

Hmm, are you sure the Dark Knight game is not being released? I heard they were having difficulty with it but that it is/was planned to be released the same day as the Blu-ray/DVD movie release. Either way, I might just be more excited about Arkham Asylum.
It’s way too early to know for sure, but what system do you plan on getting this for? If you don’t have both (or any) you should take a look at this Stacker 2 contest going on. There are less than 150 entrants right now so there is a pretty decent chance of winning. All you have to do is design a 6 Hour Power t-shirt, and if you win you get the system of your choice, a year’s supply of 6 Hour Power, ten t-shirts with your design on it, and a copy of Rise of the Argonauts. Check out the contest details here: http://www.brickfish.com/Entertainment/Stacker2?tab=overview
I work for them so let me know if you have any questions. I’ll definitely vote for your design if you enter. Good luck.
